    | Wind vs Sun |
    |  Working hard at Jouere
 | Not much to report today. A north-westerly wind made it easy
    to stay on Gache but it also produce thermals that were not what you could
    call user friendly. We had to work hard with the traditional thermal sources
    (ie the south-facing rock slopes) to make progress but it was only after
    three hours that the surface heating eventually overcame the north-westerly
    allowing us to reach the parcours. |

    | The more experienced locals did rather better, reaching the
    Briancon area, but given the time of day we were happy enough to stay on or
    near the parcours brushing up on some technique. Traffic was dense, however;
    our Flarm kept banging off every few minutes as yet another glider
    approached - we saw most of them but one or two came as a bit of a surprise.   | Near Marcoux

    | Cloudbase eventually reached 10,000ft so the glide home was a
    very smooth and stress-free affair. There was just enough time at the end of
    the day to give Janice, our other paragliding house-guest, a run up and down
    the Gache and a brief, though unsuccessful, search for some wave. |
