It's Raining Again
|
Driest part of journey
|
So far this season we have had 220 refinished, had both
panels rebuilt, upgraded our Flarm, joined the CAA Register, ran through the
EASA transition process, fought back at Mode S, beaten some hackers and
still had the time to fly in the UK on the pitifully small handful of
opportunities available. Now, it's payback time: three whole weeks dedicated
to flying in the French Alps. What could possibly go wrong??

The cashier at the final payage had it about right. "Ha!
Hello English! With your English weather...". Yep, rain, rain, rain.
Today was a washout and there is little expectation of any decent flying
until the coming weekend. A couple of gliders (why yes, they were
British, as it happens) played chicken over the other side of the valley at
Chabre, calculating how long they could hang on to the thermals before
diving back through the rain as it advanced westwards across the
site.

Great to be back!

In deference to the sensitivities of the remainder of the
syndicate, who are no doubt basking in the sunshine of eastern England, we
decided not to rig...
