Today marks the opening of the first 2-seater Nationals
competition to be held at Sisteron. About 20 gliders (mainly Duo Discuses)
are taking part and there are many familiar faces from Duo comps that have
been held here in previous years.
On first arriving on site this morning we couldn't help
noticing that the new CFI, Serge, has instigated a wind of change which
appears to have revitalised the club. The staff are freshly motivated and
that clearly shows from the moment one checks in at the new-look reception,
all the way to re-vamped airfield operations. Further reports will be
supplied over the next few days.
Today's weather forecast was not to our liking, featuring as
it did some heavy storms later in the afternoon with all the associated
unpleasantness one would expect. So we waved off the competitors and enjoyed
some R&R before business begins in earnest tomorrow.
(Writing this at 18:30 after some serious gardening we
notice that the storms just missed the valley and it is still clearly
soarable over the local hills.)
