Well, almost. After a good start, the weather to the north,
over the Ecrins, declined to cooperate and we were left with a sheet of
stratus covering most of the interesting peaks. I managed to reach Guillaume
and the tete de Lucy where I decided that following the main spine of the
Ecrins was preferable to dipping into the St Crepin valley. At this stage
there was little sun on the ground and the clouds were becoming less like
cumulus and more like stratus, so I did a short O/R to the Pas de la Cavale
and, when it started to rain, decided to head south again.
I spent a little time hunting for wave around Chabre and
Serre, but with little success - the only memorable point was when I got
beaten up (again!) by Klaus and his Gang of Four, in a strongish thermal
over Serres.
In summary, good to be airborne again, but the weather
today didn't allow much freedom to roam the mountains as we would have
liked.
