The Brits Arrive
Most of the team has now
arrived, bringing with them grey weather that persuaded all pilots that
today was an opportunity to discover new, non-flying activities. The
forecast confirmed that the day would be poor and so the only gliding
related activity was checking in at the office with the lovely Isabel.
(Although Clare &
Robert were observed rigging their gliders as the rest left the
airfield...)

Walking up Géruen
|
Dave, Marion, Andrew and John decided to get some exercise
and drove to Authon and then the col de Font-Belle for a walk up Géruen (or
Auribeau as it is known to glider pilots). An hour and a half of moderate
walking later they were at the col of Géruen, enjoying the views across to
the Thoard valley.

Ariane, Jacqui, James and Martin set off
for la Domaine de Germanette, advertised as 'the beach in the
mountains'. It is an artificial lake located near Serres, about a 30
minute drive from the airfield. It also has a restaurant and a bar and is
very popular (though rarely overcrowded) with visitors.
Terry and Maggie stayed clear of all
physical activity by taking a drive in the hills.
