Here comes another day-trip possibility for the resting glider pilot and/or associated hangers-on. The Cime de la Bonette is a 9300ft peak lying to the south-east of Barcelonette on the edge of the Mercantour and its col, seen here at the centre of the picture, carries the road into the Var en-route to Nice. The route is rather long and winding, but the views from the top are superb are worth the effort. This photo was taken from the table d'orientation at the summit, which is an easy 5-minute walk from the road that loops round the peak.
