An easy wind-down day today. Moderate
southerly winds were on the agenda, with the possibility of some wave and a lot
of cloud. After watching 13's dusty departure roughly in the direction of
the UK, I took a launch onto Malaup where a sturdy 6-knotter gave me enough
height to cross to the Crete de Selles and push forward into some weak wave
just to the south of St Genis.
And that
was pretty much the story of my final day at Sisteron. Having established
that R71 was not active, I tried the valley du Jabron but without much
success, and then the south of the pic de Bure where, to my surprise, I did
find some useful wave coming off, I assume, the Ceuse.
To
the north, a lot of cloud was lying low above the Ecrins, although there
were a few sunny patches that were tempting, but to be honest I was having a
good enough time flying amongst the  clouds in the Sisteron cuvette.
My
maximum altitude for the day was 12,000ft, so no records broken there. But
it was a good way to end the holiday.
